What is Alzheimer's Disease?
Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain in which brain cells die and are not replaced. It results in impaired memory, thinking and behaviour and is the most common form of dementing illness. The cause is unknown and there is no cure New drugs give a boost to failing memory functions which would give a better quality of life. The drugs will not have a curative effect.

Time of Diagnosis
The time of diagnosis can be very difficult for persons with Alzheimer's disease, the carer, and other family members. Often, they find it very hard to understand or take on board what has been said when they are told of the diagnosis.
